An average speed camera.

An average speed camera system, the first of its kind in the UK, will begin operating between Canning Town and the Goresbrook Interchange on the A13 from 31 January to help reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on this stretch of road; notorious for collisions.

Lord Mayor's ParadeStaff were thrilled to turn out in their own float for the 2008 Lord Mayor's Parade. Standing on the 45 foot long float were 30 Year Six pupils from the Sir John Cass Foundation Primary school in East London, all dressed up as speed cameras and traffic lights - with red-light faces. They took the opportunity to put across some simple road safety messages: "Slow Down" and "Red Means Stop".

Parent PactThe LSCP have recently released a resource for parents of new and learner drivers. The 'Parent Pact' aims to help parents in passing on the skill of safer driving to their children. Parent Pact is designed to show the challenges facing young drivers, giving tips to parents that go beyond simply helping their children pass the driving test. It also includes information which will be useful for the young drivers themselves.

Bromley Crash ReconstructionStudents at Bromley College of Further and Higher Education were recently shown the consequences of dangerous driving through the full reconstruction of a car crash. Organised by Bromley Councils Road Safety Unit, this event was attended by the LSCP and the Emergency Services to demonstrate to the young audience how and why so many unnecessary collisions happen on our roads each year.
